Shopee owns a webpage in Singapore (http://mall.shopee.sg/) as well as other countries. The changes is digital landscape has greatly impacted consumer trends and media consumption. Digital marketing is highly significant and relied on in Singapore, earned media is key in digital marketing; hence it’s a big benefit for Shopee as Shopee is an online market place.
This google trend shows the interest over time from 2005 till now in 2015. From this graph we can see that Shopee was not very well known when it first started out in the late 2006 and have been remained quite unknown till the mid this year, in 2015. It was only recently that shopee become a very well-known and frequently searched.
Google Trends is an open public website of Google Inc., in light of GoogleSearch, that shows how frequently a specific term is entered with respect to the overall search. From the google trend above, you can see that among the internet users, “shop online” is the keyword that is most commonly searched compared to other keywords like “online shopping” and “e-commerce” in 2011. However over the next 4 years, “online shopping” has an increasing number of searches, while “e-commerce” still remained pretty low. Hence “online shopping” will be a keyword that interests the internet users. With the help of Google Trends, business marketers will be able to comprehend the trends of the Internet market and brand their items accordingly. In this case, marketers of Shopee can look towards advertising their mobile application and website, utilizing these keywords, "shop online" and "online shopping".
Referring to the graph above, when compared to other rising mobile marketplace like Carousell and Qoo10, Shopee is considered the least popular trend while Qoo10 is is the trendiest, even though all of the marketplace has an increase in the internet users searching them up.
